Fabric and Material
Texturized Nylons
These fabrics are made of fibres that have been air-texturized to give them the look and feel of cotton canvas, but with exceptional abrasion resistance (20 times that of cotton canvas). Used in high-wear areas.
Cordura
Textured nylon- Rugged, highly textured nylon fabrics that look and feel like cotton canvas, but with more abrasion- resistance. They have extremely high tear strength and a polyurethane waterproof back coating.
1000 denier condura plus - Made from large-sized Dupont branded fibres, and coated with 1 1/4 oz. polyurethane coating for waterproof ness.
500 denier condura plus - Made from smaller-sized Dupont branded fibres, and coated with 1 1/4 oz. polyurethane coating for waterproof ness. This lighter fabric still gives you 90% of the tear strength and abrasion resistance of 1000 denier fabric.
500/1000-denier condura plus - This fabric has 500 denier fibres woven in one direction and 1000 denier fibres in the other direction.
Pack cloths
Made from high-tenacity nylon fibres of small size and coated with a 3/4 oz. polyurethane, this is a very lightweight fabric with exceptional tear strength and waterproof ness.
430 denier pack cloth - Made from Caprolan Nylon fibres.
420-denier pack cloth - Made from high tenacity nylon fibres.
Rip stops
These fabrics have an extra thick fibre put into the weave at periodic intervals. This creates a lightweight fabric that will stop tears from spreading.
200-denier rip stop - A lightweight version of the rip stop used in linings.
450-denier rip stop - This 100% polyester fabric is lightweight and tear resistant. Jansport uses sufficient polyurethane coating to ensure waterproof ness.
Hex stops
Unique to JanSport we weave a Rip stop in a hexagonal or honeycomb pattern. This reinforces the direction of most stress, which is usually diagonal to the load. Normal square-pattern Rip stops literally have reinforcements in the wrong direction. These fabrics are fully waterproof.
430-denier hexstop - A lightweight nylon version of Hexstop.
600-denier hexstop - A heavier, texturized polyester version of Hexstop.
Mesh
These fabrics have holes in them!
Cool guard mesh - Mesh made from Dupont's revolutionary Cool-Max yarn which is a multi channel yarn that wicks moisture much more quickly than conventional round yarn, and dries quickly after activity.
Leathers
Suede Coronado - Golden brown in coloration. Known for the rugged nap of its surface, our suede leather is specially tanned to provide ample support and strength.
Suede latte - Grey/brown coloration. Known for the rugged nap of its surface, our suede leather is specially tanned to provide ample support and strength.
